The short version
- Your goals, notes and photos belong to you. We only use them to run Yearbar for you.
- Yearbar is free to start. Pro is optional and comes with a 7-day free trial, no card needed.
- Subscriptions renew until you cancel, and you can cancel any time.
- Bought Pro on the web and changed your mind? Ask within 14 days for a full refund.
- Be kind and legal, and don’t try to break or abuse the app.
1. The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and John Limos, an individual developer based in the Philippines who makes and runs Yearbar (“Yearbar”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Yearbar web app, the iPhone and Android apps, and yearbar.app. By using Yearbar, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Yearbar.
2. Who can use Yearbar
You must be at least 13 years old. In countries where the law sets a higher age for using online services on your own, you must be at least that age (for example, 16 in Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and Poland, 15 in France, and 14 in Italy and Austria).
If you’re under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian’s permission to buy Pro, and they agree to these terms for you.
3. Your account
You can use Yearbar without an account; your board then stays on your device. To sync between devices or back up photos, you’ll need an account. Please use an email address you can reach, keep your password private, and tell us at support@yearbar.app if you think someone else has used your account. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
4. Your content
Everything you add to Yearbar (goals, check-ins, notes, photos, rewards) stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy and display it only as needed to run Yearbar for you, such as syncing it to your devices and making your collage. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from backup copies that expire on their own (see the privacy policy).
Only upload things you have the right to use. Please don’t store illegal content.
Keep your own copies of anything important. We work hard to keep your data safe, but we can’t promise it will never be lost, especially boards stored only on your device.
5. Using Yearbar fairly
Please don’t:
- break the law, or use Yearbar to harm or harass anyone,
- try to get into other people’s accounts or data, or get around limits, payments or security,
- overload, scrape, reverse-engineer or disrupt the service, or upload malware,
- resell Yearbar or present it as your own.
The Yearbar name, logo, design and code belong to us. These terms give you a personal right to use the app, not ownership of it.
6. Free plan, Pro and the trial
Free plan. Up to 5 goals, with photos stored on your device.
Pro. Unlimited goals, photo backup and sync, a clean collage and recap, and all themes. Pro is offered monthly (US$3.99), yearly (US$29.99) or as a one-time Lifetime purchase (US$59). Prices may differ by country and currency, and sales tax or VAT may be added where required. The price you’ll pay, including any tax, is always shown before you confirm.
Free 7-day trial. Every account can try Pro free for 7 days, once. No card is needed, and the trial simply ends after 7 days. You won’t be charged unless you choose to buy Pro.
App store trials. On iPhone or Android, a Pro subscription may start with a free trial from the app store. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it turns into a paid subscription, and the store will charge you.
Lifetime means Pro for as long as we offer Yearbar, on your account, with no renewals.
When Pro ends, your account moves to the free plan. We don’t delete your goals, check-ins or notes. Pro features stop working, and you may not be able to add new goals while you have more than the free limit.
7. Billing and cancelling
- Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you bought, until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time. Pro keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
- Bought on the web: our online reseller, Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), sells Pro to you as the merchant of record. Polar takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and sends your receipts, so its Buyer Terms also apply to the purchase, and the charge may show as Polar on your statement. Cancel or update your card in Profile → Plan → Manage billing, or by contacting Polar at support@polar.sh.
- Bought on iPhone or Android: Apple or Google bills you. Cancel in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.
If we ever raise the price of a subscription, we’ll tell you in advance, and the new price applies only from your next renewal. You can cancel before then.
8. Refunds
Bought on the web
If you change your mind, email support@yearbar.app within 14 days of a purchase or renewal and we’ll refund the full amount. We approve the refund and Polar sends it back to you. This covers monthly, yearly and Lifetime purchases. You don’t need to give a reason, and we don’t keep back any processing fees. Pro ends when the refund is made. Refunds go back to your original payment method and usually arrive within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
After 14 days, payments aren’t refundable, including partly used periods, unless the law where you live requires a refund. If something went wrong (a double charge, or a charge after you cancelled), tell us any time and we’ll make it right.
For consumers in the EU and UK: you have a legal right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days. Our refund promise above includes that right, so you’ll receive the full amount back.
Bought on iPhone or Android
Apple and Google handle these payments, and we can’t issue refunds for them. Request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or from Google in Google Play, under their refund policies.
9. Changes to Yearbar
Yearbar is growing, and features will change. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove a major Pro feature you’ve paid for, we’ll offer a fair solution, such as a partial refund.
If we ever shut Yearbar down, we’ll give you at least 60 days’ notice and a way to download your data.
10. Not professional advice
Yearbar helps you track goals you set yourself. Anything in the app, such as pace estimates, starter packs or suggested targets, is general information, not medical, fitness, financial or legal advice. Please check with a qualified professional before making health or money decisions, and listen to your body when training.
11. Warranties and liability
We work hard to make Yearbar reliable, but it’s provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will always be available, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost data, lost profits or missed goals). Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by contract, or our liability for fraud, or for death or injury caused by our negligence.
12. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Yearbar any time, and delete your account in Profile → Account → Account settings → Delete my account. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an app store subscription; please cancel that in the store as well.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or if the law requires it. Unless it’s urgent or unlawful to do so, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to download your data. If we close your account without a good reason, we’ll refund any unused part of a paid plan.
13. App Store and Google Play
If you got Yearbar from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and for support, maintenance and any claims about it, including product liability, legal compliance and intellectual property claims. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may contact Apple for a refund of the purchase price, if any; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. You also agree to the store’s own rules, and you confirm that you aren’t located in a country under a US government embargo and aren’t on a US government list of restricted parties.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines. If you live elsewhere as a consumer, you keep the protections of the laws of your country that can’t be changed by contract, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.
If you have a problem, please email us first. Most things can be sorted out quickly that way.
15. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as Yearbar changes. We’ll update the date at the top, and for important changes we’ll tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using Yearbar after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
